How to Use: Before you start your conversation,
Please create a warm, inviting environment for conversation.
Quiet environment with minimal distractions: Choose a setting with minimal distractions. Turn off the TV, put away your cell phones to encourage face-to-face communication.
Casual Setting: Opt for comfortable, casual seating arrangements such as sofas or chairs with cushions to create a more relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
Circle or Semi-Circle Arrangements: Consider a face-to-face seating arrangement that allows for direct eye contact, removing or avoiding any physical barriers like large furniture or walls.
Prepare snacks or drinks: Cookies, chips and dip, hot chocolate, ice cream, and a selection of refreshing beverages. These treats will add a delightful touch to your family conversation.

How to Have a Healthy Conversation:
Listen actively to the other person.Make and maintain eye contact with encouraging smiles and affirming nods.
When listening, be supportive and offer lots of compliments and encouragement.
Avoid interrupting or talking over the other person.
Show empathy and understanding by acknowledging their perspective.
Use "I" statements to express your own feelings and thoughts.
Express your own feelings and ideas in a non-judgmental way and use “I” messages.
When the other person shares their experience, restate their feelings and thoughts, rather than trying to judge or offer advice.
Avoid making assumptions or jumping to conclusions.
Focus on learning about each other, rather than "winning" the conversation.
Take breaks when needed to avoid becoming overwhelmed or frustrated.
End the conversation on a positive note, even if you still disagree.
